The techniques learned can be applied right away and the programme has been designed to focus on both personal and professional development. Participants on the course will sharpen their analytical, conceptual and critical thinking skills and learn the tools, methodologies and frameworks that can be applied in an advanced management situation.

Who is it for?

The MSc is aimed at existing employees within the ICT sector or employees working in ICT roles in non-IT organisations. Participants are likely to be either experienced and in leadership roles or planning on moving into such a position. Participants may include owners and managers of small enterprises.

Masters Programme Structure

The MSc in Leadership, Innovation and Technology is delivered part-time over two years mostly through online streamed lectures with a blend of face-to-face online workshops and tutorials.

The Masters is delivered over two phases. Phase one covers six core modules and phase two sees the participant working on an applied and structured project.

Phase One Modules:

  • Innovation Management and Creativity
  • Problem Solving and Critical Thinking
  • Personality and Leadership
  • Strategy Tools for Competitive Positioning
  • Strategic Management of Technology & Innovation
  • Team Leadership and Change Management

Phase Two Project:

Students will carry out research in the context of their organisation and specialist area allowing them to gain valuable knowledge and expertise whilst also contributing to important management issues within the organisation.

The research is typically focused on carrying out research ‘in’ the organisation as apposed to ‘on’ the organisation.

Masters Programme Assessment

There are no examinations, instead a continuous assessment approach will be followed. Each of the six modules is linked to a work-based project, that includes reflective learning. The final Master’s Degree award will be based on the assessment of the research project carried out by each participant with the full support of the college.

Entry Requirements

Participants must have a Level 8 Honours Degree in a cognate discipline with a minimum of a 2:2. Candidates with significant work experience but without the requisite qualifications may be considered under a Recognition of Prior Learning process.
