Designed with the Irish Management Institute (IMI) and Cyber Ireland, this 7-session course empowers technical cybersecurity professionals to transition into strategic leadership roles.
Ireland’s cybersecurity sector is a global powerhouse, generating over €3.2 billion in annual revenue and employing more than 10,000 professionals. However, as the industry scales, organisations face a systemic challenge: a Leadership Gap.
While technical proficiency is high, there is a critical shortage of mid-level managers equipped to navigate the strategic, commercial, and human-centric aspects of cybersecurity. We are looking to address this bottleneck by opening applications for the 2026 intake of Leading in Cybersecurity, commencing September 2026.
A Strategic Pivot for Technical Experts
This programme is not a technical accreditation; it is an executive education experience.
Delivered in partnership with the Irish Management Institute (IMI) and Cyber Ireland, the course provides the frameworks necessary to shift from ‘technical individual contributor’ to ‘strategic leader.’
Over the course of four months, participants engage on an in-person journey across 6 learning modules over 6 sessions, delivered at the IMI Campus in Sandyford. The course kicks off with a virtual launch event to welcome all students to the journey ahead, and ends with a capstone event, facilitating students to reflect on their journey through the course and showcase the practical ways they have implemented their learnings to solve key business challenges.
What do Cyber Leaders Gain?

- Resilient Team Leadership: Proven frameworks to improve performance, increase retention, and mitigate burnout within high-pressure security operations.
- Influential Decision-Making: Tools to move beyond technical execution and contribute to long-term organisational strategy.
