Up first……

Strategy Tools for Competitive Positioning

A very exciting element of the MSc is that participants will undertake a full strategic analysis of their own organisation and the environment it is working in by applying strategy tools learned in the Strategy Tools for Competitive Positioning module.

The module falls under the strategy pillar and learners will cover some of the latest tools, concepts, theories and models, both strategic and tactical that are available to managers. These are applied to a wide variety of different business settings to give participants a real feel for them in different contexts and how they might apply them to their own working situations.

The module is also designed to hone participants’ analytical skills and approaches so they can be better equipped to lead and manage from a strategic position rather than an operational one.

On completion of this module learners will understand how to organise a company’s processes, resources and people and how to effectively implement best practice.

Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation

Technology is changing at a rapid pace and managers need to understand how this is going to affect their business but also how they can make use of new technology to better serve the needs of their customers.

Participants will learn how to manage advancements in technology in line with an organisations goals.

The module is split into two parts. Part one examines technological changes and how they impact an organisation, planning for transition, capturing the benefits of innovation and how to plan innovation projects. Part two examines organisational issues that are involved in implementing new technologies or innovation.

Participants will also learn more about the macro trends that are impacting the wider ICT industry – for example; the internet of things, artificial intelligence, security, bit data etc. Candidates will have a greater understanding of how these trends can be examined, managed and exploited.

This module includes a very exciting project. Learners will undertake an assessment of how emerging trends are going to impact their organisation and industry.

Team Leadership and Change Management

Change can often be an extremely difficult thing for an organisation to go through and change management one of the most taxing jobs a manager may undertake during their career.

Understanding and being aware of the need for change and communicating the benefits plays a key part in successful change management.

The Team Leadership and Change Management module is designed to help participants understand and diagnose their own change management skills, by carrying out a variety of exercises. These tests can then be used by the learner within their own organisations to audit the change management skills available and to highlight and address any areas where deficits or issues exist.
