Certificate in Software Engineering

The programme is comprised of a number of modules including and an integrated project.

• Modules include Java Fundamentals, Technology and Computer Network Fundamentals and Software Design & Testing. The taught modules will act as an enabler to the project teams, providing them with the fundamental tool-kit to enable successful completion of the projects.
• The project will be team based, organised and managed using Project Oriented Problem Based learning methods (POPBL).

Successful completion of the programme will be measured through module assessments, ongoing evaluations, and a review of the team project.

Satisfactory completion will lead to the award of 20 Level 8 ECTS credits.

To apply for this course, candidates must be

• full-time resident in Republic of Ireland,
• Irish or EEA national or resident in Republic of Ireland on a Stamp 4 Visa or Stamp 1G Visa, and
• unemployed at the time of course commencement

The programme is available to graduates with an Honours Level 8 qualification who are eligible to work in Ireland. Candidates should have a 2.1 primary Honours Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology Engineering, Maths) discipline. This category includes (but is not limited to) computer science, software engineering, electronic engineering, and data networking but qualified applicants from any discipline with problem solving, logic and critical thinking may receive consideration.
